Over the years, foot traffic, old sealers, etching and general wear leave hard floors dull, scratched and tired-looking. Grinding and polishing removes that damaged surface layer and rebuilds the finish — bringing the shine, colour and depth back to a floor that already exists.
It is the difference between refinishing a solid timber floor and tearing it out. Done properly, the result rivals a new installation, at a fraction of the cost and disruption.

How It Which Works
Every project starts with an inspection, not a machine. We assess the material, the level of wear, the grout or joint condition, and what finish is realistic for that surface. Only then do we plan the treatment.
Where grinding is required, we work through a progressive sequence of diamond abrasive pads — much like moving through finer and finer grades of sandpaper.
Each pass removes the scratches left by the one before it, refining the surface a little more each time. Once the surface is prepared, we finish with diamond-tip buffing pads to bring back the shine.
It’s an extensive, methodical process — and that’s the point. The objective is always to restore the floor you have, rather than face the far greater cost and disruption of ripping it out and starting again.
Where the surface is sound and only the shine has gone, we may skip the heavier grinding stages and move straight to polishing. We’ll always tell you which applies.

Ceramic and porcelain tiles feature a hard, glazed surface that cannot be ground down. However, this does not mean that they cannot be restored. Stains, dullness, and dirty finishes on ceramic tiles can typically be addressed through professional cleaning and sealing. What’s the Difference?
They’re often mentioned together, but they solve different problems. Understanding which your floor needs is the first step.
Polishing
Polishing restores shine to a floor that is structurally sound but has lost its lustre. If the surface isn’t badly damaged, polishing brings the finish back faster and with less intervention.
Grinding
Grinding is needed when the damage runs deeper. Grinding strips old sealers and worn material back toward the original surface, so the finish can be rebuilt from scratch.
The simplest way to picture it is refinishing a wooden floor. Sometimes a fresh coat of varnish is enough to bring it back. Other times you have to strip it right back to bare timber before you can build the finish up again.
